U.S. Hispanic Business Council Announces Jose Mas as a Member of the Board

The United States Hispanic Business Council (USHBC) announced today the appointment of Jose Mas, CEO of MasTec, Inc., to its Board of Directors.

With over 25 years of experience, Jose Mas has expanded MasTec into one of the largest and most diversified infrastructure services providers in North America. Mas grew up in the business and worked his way from the company's construction builds to its corporate boardroom. Under his leadership, MasTec's revenues have increased from $930 million in 2007 to over $8 billion in 2021. In 2018 for the first time in the company's history, MasTec was named as a Fortune 500 company. Today, MasTec has more than 25,000 team members serving multiple industries in more than 375 locations in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. Mas has completely transformed MasTec from a predominantly telecommunications contractor to an award-winning and still rapidly growing corporation that continues to diversify and expand in an array of industries, including solar and wind turbine installation, pipeline construction, high voltage transmission, and wireless infrastructure construction.

Mas has earned the Ernst & Young National Entrepreneur of the Year Award, the Florida Business Journal Ultimate CEO Award and was also featured in the season finale of the CBS hit show Undercover Boss. In 2020 Forbes magazine named MasTec to its list of the World's Best Employers. Mas serves on the Board of Helmerich & Payne and also volunteers as a member of the Board of the United Way of Miami and as a Trustee on the University of Miami Board. Today, the Mas family carries on the legacy of the late Jorge Mas Canosa, their patriarch. Through the Jorge Mas Canosa Freedom Foundation, the family has provided over 200 Cuban-Americans students with the means to pursue their academic careers.

"My father came to this country from Cuba with the hope of building a brighter future. With his fierce entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to American ideals, he built his company to be one of the most profitable in North America. Throughout his life he never forgot his steadfast commitment to bettering his community." said Mas. "Following my father's example, I am proud to be a member of the USHBC Board and assist in their mission of advocating for America's small business community. We are a stronger nation when we see our neighbor's success as our own and the USHBC's work is vital to advancing that goal."

"Jose and his family are the living embodiment of the American dream. From leaving Cuba to arriving on America's shores to building an internationally recognized, publicly traded company, the Mas family has fine tuned the American success story and utilized that progress to lift up their community," said Don Salazar, USHBC Chairman. "Jose's commitment to honoring his family's legacy, helping lift up aspiring entrepreneurs and future leaders, and building a business that will last for generations to come makes him uniquely qualified to serve the USHBC."
