transFORM Hires Daniel Steps to Manage Design, Research & Product Development Department
Man, August 7, 2014 (Newswire.com) - transFORM, the leader in custom closets and storage cabinetry, announces the hiring of Daniel Steps to head it’s Design, Research and Product Development Department. Daniel, an architect and furniture designer, brings with him over a decade of experience working in Berlin, Germany, designing showrooms and exhibitions for forward thinking companies such as Volkswagen and Bosch. “transFORM will develop new and original lines of closet and storage designs that will rival what is available in Europe” says transFORM Co-Founder, Andreas Messis.
Daniel is the author of the regular column, JFK, about cultural events and exhibitions in New York City for the major German monthly print architecture magazine, AIT. From 2005-2012, he served as the Vice-President of the Berlin Chapter of the "Bund Deutscher Innenarchitekten" or BDIA, the Union of German Interior Architects and Designers. His experience also includes the redesign of residential interiors at his own architecture practice and the creation of cabinetry and built-in office furniture for major medical facilities in Germany. Daniel’s European work history has equipped him to design cutting edge products the sophisticated homeowner desires.

For his introductory design, Daniel has created a wall unit and media center that contrasts a radiant high gloss orange with a warm wood grain for a balanced and modern look. The unit contains a sliding door that alternately hides a television and reveals a shelf. It also features a floating backing panel and inset lighting that enhance the spacious look of the unit. The plentiful floor to ceiling storage, both open and in drawers, provides ample room to store and display books, sculptures and home decor. Opposite the open shelving is a matte black glass fronted cabinet to house your favorite drinks and glassware for quick entertaining. It will be on display at our showroom, #708 in the New York Design Center, at 200 Lexington Ave in Manhattan for their event, What’s New | What’s Next, on September 18th. We invite you to come and meet Daniel Steps and tour the showroom at this exciting, must-attend event for the New York Design community.
This is just the beginning of the things to come from Daniel and transFORM’s energized Design Research & Product Development Department. Daniel’s future initiatives at transFORM include enhancing the digital workflow of design and production as well as developing an efficient screen to machine manufacturing process that accommodates transFORM’s high level of customization. “It puts us firmly at the forefront of panel processing for the closet and storage industry” says transFORM Co-Founder, Stuart Reisch.
