Times Pharmacy Sponsors Medication Take-Back Event
Oahu, Hawaii , December 9, 2016 (Newswire.com) - Times Pharmacy is hosting a medication take-back event on Saturday December 10, 2016, from 9:00am to 1:00pm on Oahu at the Pohai Nani Senior Living Community, located at 45-090 Namoku Street in Kaneohe. As a free service to the community, Times Pharmacy is working with the Good Samaritan Society Pohai Nani and the Department of Public Safety State Narcotics Enforcement Division (NED) to accept unused or expired prescription drugs. Such medications are the leading cause of accidental poisoning in the home.
Times Pharmacy encourages people to protect themselves, their families, and the environment by bringing unwanted or expired medications – including prescription and over-the-counter drugs – to Pohai Nani where they will be collected by NED to be disposed of. “We’re very pleased to be able to provide this opportunity to the community,” said Patrick Uyemoto, Clinical Pharmacy Manager at Times Supermarket RX, “and help reduce the risk these potentially harmful medications can pose.”
Pohai Nani can accept both unwanted and expired prescription and non-prescription medications, however, they cannot take needles, syringes, or aerosol medications. People are encouraged to remove any personal information from prescription labels. All drop-offs will be kept strictly confidential and no questions will be asked. “We’d like to thank our partners and everybody who participates for doing their part to help keep our community safe,” concluded Patricia Camero, Executive Director from Pohai Nani.
