The Golden Foodie Award’s Celebrates Chef Driven and Independently Owned Restaurants

As we lead up to the 5th annual Golden Foodie Awards on September 25th, local food enthusiasts are invited to vote for their local culinary favorites in August.  The Golden Foodie Awards are comprised of 24 categories, that the food loving public is tasked to vote for.  The GFA’s celebrates the region’s independently owned and chef-driven restaurants.

The Golden Foodie Awards is a democracy; the People’s Choice Food Award’s recognizes the best chefs, libations and cuisine at chef-driven and independent restaurants. With its focus on involving the Orange County community to vote, the GFA’s serve as the highest honor allowing the people to decide who is best. Winners will be announced on September 25th at the red carpet gala. Hosting the awards is Simon Majumdar a world renowned broadcaster and author. Simon is a well-recognized personality on the Food Network, regularly appearing on shows such as Iron Chef America, The Next Iron Chef, The Best Thing I Ever Ate, Cutthroat Kitchen, Extreme Chef and Beat Bobby Flay.

Golden Foodie Award Categories and Voting Schedule

The 2016 voting period will run Aug. 1 through 21, with nominees announced at the end of each voting week; winners will be announced on Sept. 25 at the awards gala. Connoisseurs of cuisine and lovers of libations will have a chance each week to vote for their favorites among the following 21 categories:

Week One (Aug. 1-7):

·         BEST MEXICAN FOOD

·         BEST VEGETARIAN FOOD

·         BARTENDER OF THE YEAR

·         BEST PIZZA

·         BEST ITALIAN FOOD

·         BEST FRENCH CUISINE

·         BEST INDIAN CUISINE

Week Two (Aug. 8-14):

·         BEST FOOD INFLUENCER

·         BEST BEER SELECTION

·         BEST BURGER

·         BEST MEDITERRANEAN CUISINE

·         BEST CALIFORNIAN CUISINE

·         BEST SEAFOOD

·         BEST SERVICE AWARD

Week Three (Aug. 15-21):

·         BEST NEW RESTAURANT

·         BEST DESSERT

·         BEST STEAK

·         BEST WINE

·         BEST COCKTAILS

·         BEST ASIAN CUISINE

·         BEST SUSHI
