Teatime Toast to Moms Benefiting Margaret Hudson Program
Tulsa, OK 74135, March 17, 2016 (Newswire.com) - The weekend before Mother’s Day, on Saturday April 30th, the Margaret Hudson Program will be hosting a Teatime Toast to Moms at the Junior League of Tulsa where families are invited to celebrate motherhood together. This special luncheon will take place from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm.
Through the support of our collaborative partners, individual donors, local businesses, faith organizations and philanthropists, the Margaret Hudson Program (MHP) is able help our young mothers fulfill their dreams. At our Teatime Toast to Moms, we will honor four special local mothers with the Dr. Margaret Hudson Award. The event will help raise funds for MHP operations, so we can continue to help pregnant and parenting girls create stable, nurturing and self-supporting families. MHP is a nonprofit, Tulsa Area United Way Partner Agency.
Mothers mean the world to us, and we are excited to be able to offer an opportunity for individuals and families to celebrate their special mother. Moms, aunts, grandmothers and guardians can be honored through our “Make a Toast to Your Mom” package. Each package includes a unique place setting in honor or in memory of your special mom, and every mother will be included in the program and acknowledged during the Distinguished Mothers Ceremony. The package also includes three tickets to the Teatime Toast to Mothers luncheon event.
Mothers’ Day is a special time each year at the Margaret Hudson Program for our current students and for our 10,000 alumnae who started their families as teenagers. Founded in 1968, our program provides middle and high school education with the wraparound support of counseling, health and social services, early childhood education, childcare and community outreach. Through our partnerships with Tulsa and Broken Arrow Public Schools, MHP is able to provide accredited academic instruction on a tuition-free, no-cost basis. MHP helps students graduate from high school, develop career goals and pursue post-secondary education. MHP counselors and nurses strengthen the emotional resiliency of our students and provide prenatal health guidance to achieve healthy birth outcomes. Special classroom education provides a solid foundation in life skills, household management and effective parenting.
The artwork featured on the Teatime Toast to Mom’s invitation was created by Tulsa artist Margaret Aycock. Margaret will attend the April 30th event to host a display and art sale of her work – generously donating half of the proceeds to benefit MHP. She is an Impressionist oil painter known for her portraits, delicate pastel floral still lifes, Oklahoma landscapes and exciting bathing beach figures. She has been painting for over 25 years and teaches adult oil painting lessons at Ziegler’s Art and Frame store. She is also a Tulsa Arts and Humanities Council artist in residence at Hillcrest Hospital’s Kaiser Rehab and Women’s Center’s High Risk Pregnancy Unit.
