Tamarac Commissioner Julie Fishman Reappointed to Two National League of Cities Positions

Julie Fishman, Tamarac City Commissioner, District 3

Tamarac’s District 3 Commissioner Julie Fishman has been reappointed to the National League of Cities (NLC) 2020 Energy, Environment and Natural Resources (EENR) federal advocacy committee and to the 2020 Race, Equity and Leadership (REAL) Council.

The EENR committee leads the development of NLC’s federal policy positions on issues involving air and water quality, energy policy, national wetlands policy, noise control and solid and hazardous waste management. As a member, Commissioner Fishman will help shape NLC’s policy positions and advocate on behalf of America’s cities and towns before Congress, with the administration and at home.

The REAL Council is NLC's effort to equip members to respond to racial tensions in their communities and address the historical, systemic and structural barriers that further inequity and racism in our nation's cities. On this council, Commissioner Fishman will help identify common trends across municipalities and develop policy options and responses for cities, towns, and villages.

“I am honored to continue to work on both of these important initiatives, and to help to shape the conversation at a national level,” said Commissioner Fishman.
