Surf City Surf Dog® Competition on September 23 Gets Top Dog Sponsor

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif., September 7, 2017 (Newswire.com) - The world’s best-surfing dogs will once again gather in Huntington Beach for the 9th Annual McKenna Subaru Surf City Surf Dog competition on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, at Huntington Dog Beach. More than 70 'pawticipants' and international 'surFURs' will be competing for barking rights to claim the top dog honor, taking home the trophy in the second event of Surf Dog Events two-part series. The first Surf Dog event took place in Imperial Beach last July.

The main event, the dog surfing competition is Saturday, Sept. 23rd at Huntington Dog Beach from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The contestants will compete in Shredder/pro heats, four weight-class divisions, as well as a tandem heats and Stand Up Paddle heats. The surf dogs will be judged by professional surf judges on a variety of skills, including the length of their ride and difficulty of wave and maneuvers. All dogs are winners and will receive a commemorative participation medal, though trophies will be awarded to the top dogs in each category. The event ends with closing ceremonies and award presentations.
In conjunction with the McKenna Subaru Surf City Surf Dog Event, the weekend activities include:
· Friday, 9|22, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. – Pooch Party and Fashion Show at Bella Terra; Free Event
· Saturday, 9|23, 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. – The NY Dog Film Festival featuring a double feature at Pacific City’s Deck 2 Outdoor theater. $25 paid admission. Purchase Tickets Here
· Sunday, 9|24, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. – SUP with Your PUP Meetup at Pirate Coast Paddle Company; Free event for those with their own equipment. Special $20/hr. surf dog rental rate for those needing equipment.
