Sunshine Coast Health Centre Announces New Virtual Family Sessions for Post-Treatment Care for Trauma, PTSD, and Addiction in British Columbia and Throughout Canada

New virtual options are launching this summer and will continue into the fall, thus supporting alumni and their family, friends, and other loved ones in their post-treatment journey to full recovery.

"The road to recovery doesn't end when a client leaves our facility," explained Casey Jordan, Chief Marketing Officer. "We're excited to announce new post-treatment virtual support not only for alumni but for their friends, family, and loved ones. The new virtual options will extend beyond the summer and into the fall."

In September 2021, these functions will be taken over permanently by long-time staff member, Sara Klinkhamer. It is also being announced that, at the beginning of June, the Centre added a support staff, Courtney Dutchak, to help with the logistics and administration of supporting clients' family members. In this way, the Centre is announcing its continuing commitment to the entire recovery journey.

AN INNOVATIVE TREATMENT METHODOLOGY

Treatment for trauma, PTSD, and addiction needs to address many, multifaceted needs. First, treatment needs to address the needs of the whole person recognizing the client as a partner in treatment. Second, the Centre has medical staff on-site and thus can deal with the physical and mental issues of detox. Third, at the Centre clients have a cornucopia of treatment options. Finally, after treatment and release, clients are sent back into society and these newly announced post-treatment options help bolster the client's ability to retain the new skills they have learned.
