Sullivan Solar Power Sets Record for Inc. 5000 Fastest Growing Private Companies List

The honoree is the only solar company to be featured on this list for eight years.

San Diego-based Sullivan Solar Power has been featured on the Inc. 5000 Fastest Growing Private Companies list for the eighth consecutive year, a feat no other solar company has achieved. The Inc. 5000 List launched in 1982 and recognizes American entrepreneurship and perseverance. The announcement of the 2017 list was made on Wednesday by Inc. president and editor-in-chief, Eric Schurenberg, recognizing a variety of companies in industries ranging from tech to ice cream to clean energy.

“I set out to lead the solar energy revolution 13 years ago to fundamentally change the way we generate our electricity to rid fossil fuel consumption,” said Daniel Sullivan, founder and president of Sullivan Solar Power, “To be on the Inc. 5000 List for eight consecutive years and set the record for solar companies recognized on the list is truly a great honor.”

The rooftop solar industry has been one of the fastest-growing industries nationwide for the past several years. There are over 373,807 workers in solar power in the United States, according to the January 2017 Department of Energy report.

When Sullivan started his company in 2004, there were about 20 companies in San Diego doing solar. California Solar Initiative data shows there were 765 companies that did solar power installations in the San Diego Gas & Electric territory in 2016 alone. While the number of companies doing solar this year has decreased, the solar industry remains very saturated, especially in the nation’s solar capital San Diego.

“Sullivan Solar Power has been able to differentiate ourselves through a rigorous quality control process, offering solar education instead of a sales pitch, credibility from high-profile commercial clients and turning customers into solar advocates,” said Sullivan who credits his customers for spreading the word about going solar, helping grow his company each year.

Sullivan Solar Power is the only company in San Diego or Orange County to hold the prestigious North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioner (NABCEP) Company Accreditation, and just one of seven companies in North America with this accreditation. Some of Sullivan Solar Power’s commercial clients include UC San Diego, San Diego State University, Encinitas Union School District, Port of San Diego, Port of Long Beach, City of Chula Vista and UC Irvine.
