SUBWING Partners With Biosphere Foundation
Coral Reef Care & Conservation Key Factors in Maintaining a Healthy Planet
KRISTIANSAND, NORWAY, October 26, 2016 (Newswire.com) - Ksenia Kipurova, SUBWING’s Sales & Marketing Manager, announced today that the company is collaborating with Biosphere Foundation to play a small role in their preservation efforts to protect the ocean’s coral reefs. “It’s truly a privilege to be working with such a respected organization, and we look forward to helping them raise awareness on the importance of coral reefs and the role they play in the biosphere” said Kipurova.
Coral reefs buffer adjacent shorelines from wave action and prevent erosion, property damage, and even loss of life. These reefs also protect highly productive wetlands along the coast, as well as ports and harbors, and the economies they support. Globally, more than half a billion people are estimated to live within 100 miles of a coral reef, each benefiting from the production and protection they offer.
With each SUBWING purchase, a donation will be made to Biosphere Foundation to help fund their marine life conservation program. The company will also be providing the foundation with SUBWING’s to be used as “first look” observation tools to assess reefs and marine habitats to get a snapshot of their overall health and vitality. “For decades, we used to pull a snorkeler behind a small outboard boat to assess the coastal seabed. Now, thanks to SUBWING, we can survey large underwater areas easily and efficiently, all while enjoying the experience at the same time" said Abigail Alling, the foundation’s founder and president.
SUBWING founder Simon Siverten added, “We’re very proud to be working with the Biosphere Foundation and it’s nice to see the SUBWING being used for such important research. The work they do is significant and we are happy to help spread the word about reef preservation and the role these magnificent underwater environments’ play in the world’s oceans.”
