Located about 60 miles southwest of Charleston, the 100-acre facility specializes in providing medical research services to pharmaceutical, university, and government organizations worldwide. Over the past 18 months, the Company has invested heavily in expanding the range and depth of its research service offerings. Dr. Greg Westergaard, President and CEO
Documents from the U.S. Department of Agriculture highlighted several recent inspections in which Alpha Genesis has been in full compliance with all Federal regulations and guidelines pertaining to Animal Welfare. These include both routine and focused inspections that are designed to be exceptionally thorough and involve a sophisticated team of highly trained experts. Dr. Sandra Goodwell, a respected animal welfare expert, describes Alpha Genesis as a model facility with exceptional staff providing outstanding leadership in the primate research field.
Alpha Genesis CEO Greg Westergaard acknowledged the recent award, although industry-standard non-disclosure commitments prevented him from going into great detail. He did, however, acknowledge that the award was from a "household name" Pharmaceutical Company, and that the project involves a multi-year effort to improve human health by researching novel approaches and potential cures addressing widespread disease conditions. The Company's website describes the organization's efforts to combat a number of major afflictions, including cancer, measles, organ transplant, depression, anxiety, phobias, Parkinson's disease, HIV, and diabetes, with the benefits of nonhuman primate research being critical to the well-being of the world’s population.
