Sherpa Digital Media Appoints Enterprise Video Market Veteran as Vice President of Sales

Michael Ping Joins Sherpa Digital Media to Lead Sales and Business Development Efforts

Sherpa Digital Media, a leading provider of enterprise video streaming, management, and delivery solutions, announced today the appointment of industry veteran and sales leader Michael Ping to the position of Vice President of Sales and Business Development. He will oversee the next phase of Sherpa’s growth as the company looks to expand its global client footprint and continue development of innovative enterprise video solutions.

“I’ve had the distinct pleasure of working with Michael Ping in the past,” said Steve Pattison, Sherpa’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “He is a true leader, knows the ins and outs of the industry, and will be a tremendous asset to Sherpa. With Michael spearheading our sales and business development efforts, Sherpa is poised to lead the market transition from older video architectures to the next-generation of enterprise video solutions.”

“Michael Ping has a unique and insightful voice in the enterprise streaming space, having been a foundational leader in the earliest days of online video,” remarks Mark Strathdee, Sherpa’s Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder. “Ping’s core belief that customers come first, and his extensive track record in delivering solutions to the Global 500, has me truly excited for Sherpa’s next phase of growth.”

Prior to Sherpa, Michael led sales efforts at several enterprise video providers, Qumu, Kaltura, and vBrick. Michael successfully grew the companies’ partner programs, market share, and sales teams and was instrumental in securing Fortune 500 customers for early stage product offerings. Michael has a wealth of experience  growing sales organizations at these and many other companies, including Forte Software and Active Software.

“In all my years in the Enterprise Video industry,” commented Ping, “I have not seen a more dedicated and passionate team. Everyone at Sherpa is committed to building and supporting cutting-edge features on a modern architecture that provides unprecedented flexibility, extensibility, and scale. The market is ripe for a new approach like Sherpa’s.”

Ping joining Sherpa coincides with the development of a newly designed Sherpa Video Player, built to accommodate enhanced audience interactivity and information dissemination. The new player boasts speeds up to twice that of its predecessor and includes support for a wider array of video file formats across a broader spectrum of viewing devices. Ping’s appointment to lead Sherpa’s sales department, coupled with the newly launched Sherpa Video Player, positions the company to significantly expand its reach and foothold among enterprise organizations looking to fully realize the potential of live and on-demand video content.
