Shareablee Announces May's Top 10 U.S. Sports Media Power Ranking

Shareablee, the leader in social media measurement, today announced its Top 10 U.S. Sports Media rankings for May 2017.

Shareablee, Inc. reported that activity for Sports Media outpaced the U.S. Media 100 Index™ overall by 0.5%, with 51.6% of total interactions being driven by videos. Although the category saw a 5.8% decrease in the total actions for Sports Media, Video Views increased 7.8% across all platforms. Fox Sports leads the industry as the fastest-growing property with a 30% growth in Video Views despite a 17% drop in the number of videos posted.

Bleacher Report – Turner Sports Network takes the #1 position in the month of May, with 181.1 million actions making up 35% of total actions for the U.S. Sports Media industry. Despite the 15% decrease in posted content compared to the month of April, Bleacher Report – Turner Sports Network still saw an increase in Content Shares by 5% and Video Views by 14% over all social platforms.

In the #2 position is ESPN with 161.7 million actions (-12%) while Whistle Sports maintained #3 with 59 million actions (+1%) followed by Fox Sports at #4 with 19.5 million actions (-2.6%) and CBS Sports at #5 with 19.2 million actions (-18%).

Bleacher Report – Turner Sports Network also holds the top spot for highest video views at 339.6 million views (+14%) with a Video Power Index of 475, followed by Fox Sports at 265.7 million (+30%) with a VPI* of 12.                 (*Video Power Index)

  • The Top Five Sports Media on Facebook: Turner Sports (18.7 million actions), ESPN (19.4 million actions), CBS Sports (16.9 million actions), Fox Sports (13.5 million actions) and Whistle Sports (7.4 million actions)
  • The Top Five Sports Media on YouTube: Whistle Sports (98.2 million views), Fox Sports (67.7 million views), ESPN (43.8 million views), Univision (33.4 million views) and Turner Sports (4.3 million views)
  • The Top Five Sports Media on Instagram: Turner Sports (151.5 million actions), ESPN (134.1 million actions), Whistle Sports (46.2 million actions), The Enthusiast Network (11.8 million actions) and Time Inc (4.3 million actions)
  • The Top Five Sports Media on Twitter: Turner Sports (10.8 million actions), ESPN (8.8 million actions), Fox Sports (2.3 million actions), Barstool Sports (1.9 million actions) and Whistle Sports (1.9 million actions)
