Petre, P.L.S., Executive Vice President of Ott Consulting Inc. (OCI), received his Airman Certificate for Small Unmanned Aircraft System (sUAS) commonly known as a drone. OCI now has an in-house sUAS pilot, authorized under FAA regulation Part 107, to operate a sUAS to meet the growing needs of our clients.”

Mr. Ott stated, “Back in 2006, Ott Consulting Inc. (OCI), which provides civil engineering, surveying, and landscape architecture services with headquarters in Emmaus, PA, purchased East Penn Engineering Co. of Bangor, PA. OCI continues to maintain a presence in the Slate Belt and, in fact, continues to expand our clientele in the area. With this acquisition came a lot of project files in a lot of boxes! OCI needed to maintain all the project records for previous East Penn Engineering clients. With over 200 boxes taking up some prime office space in our Emmaus office, we decided it was time to consolidate. All of the project files were reviewed and all important documents were scanned, along with copies of any final plans. The documents were scanned into pdf format and linked to a point of reference in the GIS. As a result, a GIS project was created that will assist our staff when researching archived files. Our staff will have the ability to click on a point on a map and all scanned documents pertaining to that project location will populate on the screen. Scanning these files has eliminated the need for searching through archives in boxes.”
