Privacy Advocate Anonabox Partners With Australia's Privacy Awareness Week

Security router developer launches multi-brand sweepstakes to coincide with the weeklong event

Internet privacy is one of the pillars upon which Anonabox was founded. So it makes perfect sense to advocate for awareness and education on a global scale.

Anonabox has partnered with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) to join Australian Privacy Awareness Week. The event runs May 15-21 to educate individuals and businesses about Internet privacy, how it has evolved and to create awareness around how to increase online security.

Internet privacy is a growing concern for businesses and individuals alike, and Anonabox is in a position where we can use our name to move the cause forward. Garnering support from multiple brands to align with Australia's Privacy Awareness Week underscores the importance of education around Internet security.

“The theme for Privacy Awareness Week 2016 is privacy in your hands,’ said Acting Australian Information Commissioner, Timothy Pilgrim in an April 2016 media release. “For businesses and government agencies this means that privacy is part of good governance and made a key priority. For individuals, it means understanding your rights, making choices and taking charge of your privacy in the digital age.”

The OAIC has multiple events lined up Down Under, and other Privacy Awareness Week partners include Google, Facebook, Citibank and VISA, among others.

Additionally, Anonabox has teamed up with other like-minded businesses to form a multi-brand contest in support of Privacy Awareness Week. These brands include DigitalSafe, Personal.com and Namecheap, as well as Golden Frog/VyprVPN, with whom Anonabox announced it had added VyprVPN to its selection of VPN providers for its Tunneler and PRO devices.

“Internet privacy is a growing concern for businesses and individuals alike, and Anonabox is in a position where we can use our name to move the cause forward,” says Alan Burwell, Anonabox VP of Operations. “Garnering support from multiple brands to align with Australia’s Privacy Awareness Week underscores the importance of education around Internet security."
