People First Approach Continues Overseas for Cover and Legal

Cover and Legal, a leading insurance company has provided funding for the construction of the Cover and Legal Learning Support Centre in Somerset-West, South Africa. In partnership with SOS Africa; a small, UK based child sponsorship organisation, the support centre helps to enable children in Africa to break the cycle of poverty.

The building is now open and facilitates a new education programme and special needs workshop; ensuring both children with the greatest potential can flourish and those likely to otherwise fall through the education system are supported in a safe environment with the necessary equipment.

"SOS Africa is a fantastic charity that really does make a difference to people's lives, providing an immediate but very sustainable and measurable improvement in these children's futures.

The project has already provided learning support to 56 children with specific learning difficulties and aftercare support for 13 children as part of SOS Africa’s holistic education programme each afternoon.

Jay Mychalkiw, Group CEO of Cover and Legal and Corporate Ambassador for SOS Africa commented on the plans, “We are absolutely delighted to see our plans come to fruition and begin to have a meaningful impact on the lives of these children. There is now a continued requirement for further fundraising to ensure that we can continue to care for as many children as possible. I urge more businesses to support this project in a bid to expand its scope of support and empower even more children through education within the region."

“SOS Africa is a fantastic charity that really does make a difference to people’s lives, providing an immediate but very sustainable and measurable improvement in these children’s futures.”

Since its introduction in 2003, SOS Africa has supported 108 disadvantaged children, from grades 1 to 12, with a personal education programme tailored specifically to their needs and a holistic approach which enables children to break the cycle of poverty and reach their full potential.

Founder of SOS Africa, Matt Crowcombe commented, “The sponsorship and support provided by Jay and his team at Cover and Legal has been fantastic. "The Cover and Legal Learning Support Centre" which opened in January 2017 has already provided much needed educational support to over 70 children from the local townships. Cover and Legal are already creating a lasting legacy of empowerment through education.”
