Paula Deen's Daughter-in-Law, Claudia, Represents Unity in Its Organic Form.

A former Venezuelan immigrant, and current American activist, Claudia Deen represents the American dream.

Born and raised in Venezuela, Claudia left her home at the age of 24 to pursue a Masters Degree in film and television production from Savannah College of Art and Design. Knowing only a few people who were enrolled at the university at the time, Claudia relied on her athleticism and her love of running to explore her new home in America.

As fate would have it, those long runs throughout the city led Claudia to find a passion as a running coach in the community and also finding love within the walls of the university’s athletic facility.

"When I moved to the United States I had never lived on my own, I would go to the grocery store and buy large bags of Swedish fish and drink alcohol on a regular basis. I gained 17 pounds, and I had to make a change. I started my health journey before Bobby and I started dating, but he has taught me so many things I didn't know about cooking."

Claudia Deen, Health Coach

Claudia would meet Bobby Deen, son to Paula Deen, through one of the strength trainers at the university who Bobby trained with often. Bobby stated that the first time he saw Claudia in the athletic center, he knew he had to meet her.

It may have taken a few years for Bobby to finally get a chance to ask Claudia on a date. But he said, “From the moment she opened the door on our first date, I never wanted to leave her side. I was consumed with the thought of her every moment, of every day, and I still am. I am never not thinking of her.” That first date led to an engagement just four months later, and a marriage seven months after their first date.

Bobby Deen, a former marriage skeptic, is just one of the many Savannah natives who has been completely swept away by Claudia. A star on the rise, Claudia Deen embodies the ethos of the American Dream and has set out on an aggressive agenda to raise awareness around equality, opportunity, and rights for all global citizens.

As a new American citizen, Claudia continues to raise awareness about her home country of Venezuela by throwing charitable events in the community. She uses her bilingual voice on social media to engage her following on worldly issues, and openly supports small business owners on entrepreneurial endeavors. She uses her platform to give back to the American people who have embraced her, and blogs about it on her website TheTrendySmoothie.com.

Claudia also uses TheTrendySmoothie.com to talk about health, wellness, beauty, and her mission to run a marathon in each of the 50 states. She is open about her prior unhealthy habits with food and alcohol, and how Bobby has inspired healthy lifestyle changes in her and how organic living has really changed her life.

“When I moved to the United States I had never lived on my own, I would go to the grocery store and buy large bags of Swedish fish and drink alcohol on a regular basis. I gained 17 pounds, and I had to make a change. I started my health journey before Bobby and I started dating, but he has taught me so many things I didn’t know about cooking.”

Claudia and Bobby continue to teach each other, grow together, and influence others through healthy living. Bobby explained that his health journey started long before his mother’s diagnosis of Type II Diabetes, but her diagnosis only encouraged him to continue it. Upon speaking to Bobby in a separate interview, I informed Bobby that when speaking to Claudia, she gave him credit on encouraging her to explore true healthy cooking, to which he replied,

“She has no idea how much her creativity and recipes have actually inspired me. What people might not know about Claudia is that she is actually a great cook!”
