Palmer Gas/Ermer Oil Supports The New Hampshire Food Bank With A Holiday Donation
Online, December 8, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Employees of Palmer Gas/Ermer Oil recently visited the New Hampshire Food Bank to present this very important community service organization with a donation to help support their efforts for the Holiday season. Palmer Gas/Ermer Oil decided to step up to help those in need when they learned that the Food Bank is citing an unprecedented low in both food and monetary donations, while demand has continued to steadily rise.
"Demand is up 15 percent over last year, when we distributed 6 million pounds of food" said Melanie Gosselin, Executive Director of the New Hampshire Food Bank located in Manchester, NH. "The rising price of food, coupled with a drop in donations, is making it very difficult for emergency food programs all across the state of New Hampshire. This timely donation from Palmer Gas/Ermer Oil comes at the perfect time and we are incredibly grateful to all their employees for their generous support."
"We feel it is our responsibility, as a local business to support the communities in which we live and work to make a difference in the lives of others" said Bill Ermer, President and Owner of Palmer Gas/Ermer Oil. "As a company, it is gratifying to know that we helped put holiday meals on the table for many families that otherwise would have been without."
Palmer Gas/Ermer Oil actively participates in many community events each year with high employee participation. In recent years, the company has sponsored a Propane Safety Training Program with the Pelham, NH Fire Department to teach fire fighters all aspects of propane gas safety, and recently organized and conducted the Sixth Annual Safety Day for all their employees as well as for important local and statewide safety organizations. The extensive Safety Day training sessions focused primarily on keeping employees, customers and response personnel safe. Additionally, they have participated in several Blood Drives.
The New Hampshire Food Bank, a program of New Hampshire Catholic Charities, has been working to relieve hunger in the Granite State since 1984.
