Opera TV Store, New Apps Mean More Choices for Fidelity TV Customers

Several new networks in the FiDO Whole Home DVR Entertainment System Apps menu and the Opera TV Store give Fidelity TV customers more choices than ever before, including channels like YouTube, Pandora, Vimeo and Newsmax TV in an easy to access format.

Several streaming channels have been added at the top of the lineup, starting with The Sports Feed at Channel 1001 and Streaming News Network at 1002. Popular choices like YouTube at Channel 2002, Pandora at 2003 and Vimeo at Channel 2006 are now more accessible.

In addition, the Opera TV Store and FiDO! Market offer plenty of TV apps not available on other TV systems. Fidelity is one of the first TV providers to launch the Opera TV Store on a set top box, said Loren King, Video Product Manager.

Opera TV is a digital storefront showing a collection of web applications optimized for television screens, which are displayed in a layout optimized for wide screen television with standard remote control.

“The Opera store has nearly 200 apps to choose from, giving our FiDO customers even more options,” King said. “The best way to get a feel for the expansion of this product is to explore the apps available, find the ones you like and add them to My Apps for easy access.”

He added, “We appreciate when customers call in with programming suggestions. One genre that comes up often is Hispanic/Latino programming. Through the Opera TV applications, we now have several Hispanic music and movie apps included. We are also looking into adding Spanish language streaming channels.”

Now available as a TV app, Vimeo is a popular video-sharing website in which users can upload, share and view videos. It was the first video sharing site to support high definition video.

Pop Flix Classic Movies features hundreds of classic films, including campy, westerns, sci-fi, and classic horror. It includes titles like Tarzan the Fearless, Attack of the Giant Leeches, Night of the Living Dead, and many more.

Newsmax TV is America’s first truly free 24/7 live channel with breaking news. Get up to the minute headlines and the latest info on politics, health, personal finance and other news that makes your life richer and better.

King said customers can access the new free programming on FiDO by entering the channel or through the Opera store.

Opera TV Store apps run from the cloud and suit any TV screen size or resolution. App categories include: Video, Music, Social Networking, Games, News and Information. The My Apps home screen displays all installed apps in a user-friendly layout.

Users can browse, search and use recommendations to find and install applications. The TV grid is a “home screen” displaying installed TV applications in a user-friendly grid layout, which allows users to smoothly navigate and quickly launch selected applications.

“With this addition to our Whole Home DVR Entertainment Experience of FiDO, our customers now have access to content they want, at their convenience,” King said.
