Eight New Communities Become Fidelity Communications' Gig Cities
SULLIVAN, Mo., May 6, 2019 (Newswire.com) - – Fidelity Communications offers 1 Gigabit per second (1,000 Mbps) Internet service in El Dorado Springs, Salem and Thayer, Missouri; Hardy, Highland, Cherokee Village and Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; and Lawton, Oklahoma as of May 6, 2019. Residential and business customers in 18 of Fidelity Communications’ service areas are now Fidelity Communications’ Gig Cities.
“High-speed Internet service is vital to the health of rural communities, supporting education, healthcare, agriculture, entrepreneurship and so much more,” said John Colbert, President of Fidelity Communications. “We expect Fidelity Communications’ investment will grow real estate value and have a long-term household economic benefit.”
Fidelity Communications is known for leading the market with innovative technology and advanced services. Continuous investments and system upgrades keep Fidelity Communications’ services performing at a high level.
One Gig service provides the bandwidth capacity required to maintain a smooth, comfortable whole-home experience, especially as the number of Internet-connected devices continues to rise. Computers, tablets, smart TVs, and smartphones are just the beginning. From smart home security systems, to smart cars, wearable devices, and major appliances; High Speed Internet access is more of a necessity now than ever before. With an average of 8 connected devices per consumer rising to over 13 per consumer in 2021, the advantage of 1 Gig internet service appears clear.
“We’re proud to continue strengthening Fidelity Communications’ value to areas who continuously strive to retain workforce and attract job-providing companies,” said Colbert. “We’re committed to community leadership, as well as, investing in infrastructure to bring innovative services to more people and businesses in Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Texas.”
Fidelity Communications first launched One Gig services in 2017 in West Plains, Buffalo and Adrian, Missouri and continues to make investments in its technology infrastructure. Earlier this year, Fidelity Communications moved all standard cable modem customers to 50 Mbps Internet speed, upgrading customers’ hardware and speeds at no additional charge. Both speeds, One Gig and 50 Mbps, include free WiFi and no additional fees, though taxes may still apply.
Fidelity Communications’ One Gig service provides a speed increase of over four times their current fastest offering of 250 Mbps. One Gig service is now available at a monthly rate of $79.99 for the first year for residential customers.
