OneShare Health Announces October 1Share for OneShare Partner Charity

Former NFL Player Teams Up with Christian Non-Profit to Help Shape Future Leaders of America

To further its mission of spreading compassionate care, OneShare Health will be teaming up with the Larry Little Foundation during the month of October.

A private non-profit 501(3)(c) organization, the Larry Little Gold Coast Summer Camp Foundation was established to support the development of underserved youth from Miami Dade County as well as minority students from Miami Dade high schools, where 40 scholarships are awarded each year to assist with either college financial needs or the purchase of equipment and uniforms for high school sporting activities. In 2020, more than $40,000 in funds were presented to students to assist with college expenses.

“The Larry Little Foundation believes that greatness can still be found in the underserved communities around our country,” said founder Larry Little, a former Miami Dolphin and football Hall of Famer, “and we are willing to go the extra mile to help the youth develop into our future leaders.”

The organization’s namesake said the motivation behind founding his non-profit was due to the struggles Little faced growing up in South Florida.

To date, Little has received over 200 community service awards. He continues to lend support to other local non-profits including Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., the Miami Gardens Ravens Youth Football Team, Miami Dolphins Food Relief Program, Youth Athletic Association of Palm Beach County, and the Bethune Cookman University, Daytona Beach — Little’s alma mater — among others. In 2007, he launched the Larry Little Legends Golf Classic to raise additional funds for the ongoing restoration of the Historic Virginia Key Beach Park, South Florida’s “Blacks Only” beach.

Since then, the Larry Little Legends Golf Classic, now in its 14th year through the Larry Little Gold Coast Summer Camp Foundation, has provided scholarships to more than 200 local students. The Foundation exists to support the development of youth from underserved communities of Miami Dade County for the purpose of “creating and inspiring tomorrow’s leaders today.”

“The most rewarding part of the Larry Little Foundation,” Little said, “is creating an organization that gives general support to needy children from the community where I grew up, work, and still live.”

Regarding his team-up with OneShare Health, Little said, “We were very impressed by OneShare Health’s unique faith-based organization and best practices for the health care industry. We strive on building healthier and stronger communities with the belief that ‘We can do all things through Christ who sustains us.’”
