NOVA Mission Critical's DC/AC 2016: The Revolution of Data Center Conferences

If you didn’t get a chance to attend this year’s Data Center/Austin Conference, then you don’t know what you missed out on - joining the revolution of Data Center Conferences!

The 2nd Annual Data Center/Austin Conference (DC/AC 2016) hosted at the historic ACL Live at the Moody Theater was a huge hit! Even better than last year’s Anti-Data Center Conference of conferences! “It's great see an evolution to the plain vanilla Data Center conference, this was fun and informative in a great venue,” said John Sarkis , Sr. Consultant Cloud and Data Center Services at NTT America.

"The objective was to create a fun and exciting experience for Industry professionals to integrate, network, and enjoy an all-around great time together."

Edward Stewart, President, NOVA Mission Critical

The three-day event, July 19th-21st, kicked off with a live concert, followed by the conference the next day, consisting of the Data Center Industry’s top leaders, great speakers, innovative discussions, networking, and lots of fun! There were 500+ attendees, with 150+ different companies being represented. It was the place to be as part of the Data Center Industry.

President of NOVA Mission Critical, Edward Stewart, reflected on the conference, "The 2nd Annual DC/AC was a fantastic event and truly achieved the genesis of why the event was created. The objective was to create a fun and exciting experience for Industry professionals to integrate, network, and enjoy an all-around great time together. We really want to thank all of the attendees for coming out to ACL in Austin, along with the speakers, sponsors, and everyone who supported the event. Also, many thanks to the all of the NOVA Team and their continuous efforts to make this a success."

Day 1 of the conference, attendees enjoyed a rocking time with two live bands, local music legend, John Gaar, and The Dan Band, as well as outstanding local food from some of Austin’s best food trucks, an opportunity to meet the bands and celebrity guest speaker, Gary Busey, and enjoy some pre-conference downtime with the biggest names in the Data Center Industry at sponsored after-parties.  Also, thanks to CyrusOne and Data Foundry Data Centers for opening their doors for end-users to have a fun and informative opportunity to tour their Austin Data Centers.

Day 2 brought challenging and insightful questions and discussions with five panels representing the major Data Center beach fronts, including Dallas/Fort Worth, Chicago, Silicon Valley, New York/New Jersey, and Northern Virginia. Panel speakers included folks from Vantage Data Centers, Google, American Electric Power, DataGryd, SoftLayer, Microsoft, Zayo Group, NTT America, QTS Realty Trust, T-Mobile, Stream Data Centers, 1547 Critical Systems Realty, Bloomberg, Fortrust, Team DGS, Dupont Fabros Technology, SkyBox Data Centers, CenturyLink, and Midwest Data Center Partners. With Gary Busey as moderator on a couple of panels, there was an added element of humor, the unexpected, and certainly not a dull moment. Representatives from some of the top companies in the Industry, who partnered with and sponsored the event, were on hand to explain what they do and why they do it. Plus, they gave away some incredible prizes. In addition to the meat of the conference, great local BBQ was provided along with drinks and other fun amenities, such as a cigar roller, straight razor barbers, masseuses, and shoe shiner.

The fun didn’t end here. Thanks to 1547 Critical Systems Realty, the conference was wrapped up on Day 3 with a relaxing time, enjoying beautiful Lake Travis, at their sponsored Boat Cruise.

According to Greg Friedman, EVP Zayo Colocation and Cloud Infrastructure, "NOVA put on a great conference that deviates from the norm and makes conferences fun again. Bringing together leaders in the Industry for rich discussions and networking... with an entertaining, exciting venue and agenda... is incredibly challenging. I look forward to attending other NOVA events and recommending to peers and partners in the Data Center space."

In summary, DC/AC 2016 was an exceptional event that not only yielded many memorable moments, but also great platforms to network with and listen to the experts speak about the future of the Industry. This is not a conference you want to miss. If you weren’t able to attend, this year, don’t worry; NOVA Mission Critical will be doing it all again next year, bigger and better than ever.
