Miami, FL, July 8, 2015 (Newswire.com) - New Theatre in Miami, Florida has selected the monologue Escort Wanted by Doug Shear as part of their festival offering.

Doug Shear's pieces are always hysterical. I wouldn't miss them for the world.

The festival includes a concept is called Mx2, in which five monologues are chosen to be produced twice, each time using different actors and directors. Five monologues in total will be produced, which amounts to five writers, ten directors and ten actors. The festival is schedule to run from September 8 – 13, 2015.
One of the requirements for writers was that the script include no specific age, race or gender, which presented a problem for Doug Shear’s piece.
According to Doug, Escort Wanted was originally written from the male point of view. “It was based on an actual experience, so I had to de-gender the piece,” said. “I would love to see it performed by both a male and female actor, but that is up to the producers.”
Doug Shear is the author Rhubarb Culture, a futuristic novel set in a Miami, and American Karma - Twilight of the Marijuana Gods, a memoir about hitchhiking across America in the 1970s. He is also featured in a compilation of spoken word performances in the book BadAss.
