New Serviced Apartment Opens in Tokyo, Japan
Online, June 3, 2014 (Newswire.com) - 24-Hour Bi-lingual concierge staff, complimentary on-site work and meeting space, full kitchen and easy access, Hotel & Residence Roppongi adds a 75 sq. meter one-bedroom suite to its existing selection of boutique serviced apartment and hotel offerings.
Prime Minister Abe's effort to ignite a revival in the Japanese economy is producing new and exciting results in tourism. Last year's decision to hold the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo combined with the Abe-led "Abenomics" revitalization package bolstered the pull of Japan's existing attributes to achieve a record-breaking 10 million-plus inbound visitors for 2013.
Over the last few decades, the strength of the Japanese yen, lack of language support services and a general hesitation towards the "outside" and unfamiliar aspects of tourism kept numbers low and most of Japan relatively unexplored and un-discovered by international tourists. However, tourist numbers from 2013 show times have changed and travellers who are interested in and desire deep history, friendly people and exquisite cuisine are finding kind hospitality, Japanese "Omotenashi", in Asia's gateway country; The Land of the Rising Sun.
"Customers numbers had been increasing reasonably well year-on-year but in the last few years we have seen the pace rise exceptionally especially amongst visitors from North America and SE Asia", states Paul Christie of Walk Japan, a travel company specializing in walking tours throughout Japan including along the famed Nakasendo Way.
The growth in international tourism to Japan spurs growth for businesses like WalkJapan but poses a challenge for extended stay business professionals who face higher hotel rates and difficulty in securing hotel rooms for one month or longer.
"We came to Japan to shoot a special for the Travel Channel and my crew and I were having trouble booking consecutive nights in a single hotel. We were happy to discover the serviced apartment option at Hotel & Residence Roppongi and it gave us a nice base to work from during our month of filming this amazing country. We even had a nice kitchen and the beds were amazingly comfortable!," notes Lee Christofferson, director for "Only in Japan" to be aired on the Travel Channel next year.
Serviced apartments offering hotel-like services combined with the home-like comforts of a condo, meet professionals' requirement for short to extended stay accommodation. Hotel & Residence Roppongi operates some 30-plus serviced apartments inside its Hotel and Serviced Office building just 7 minutes walk from Roppongi station on Tokyo's Hibiya and Oedo subway lines.
Adding to its popular studio type offerings, H&R Roppongi opened a 75 sq. meter one bedroom furnished suite on their penthouse floor. Beautifully boutique and seeped in history, this 35 year old designer condominium was intricately revamped in traditional Japanese design and re-opened by Shimada House in 2012. Combining natural building materials, lovely art and design with work-friendly "Library" office space and a casual cafe/restaurant, H&R Roppongi is the epitomy of boutique residential hotel in Roppongi. With the 47 individually designed hotel rooms at full occupancy most of the year, General Manager Kaoru Kikuchi wanted to provide an option for long-term guests.
"The building was originally a multi-purpose facility with hotel, residential apartments, shops and restaurants, so we preserved the multi-side of the building to provide a furnished, serviced apartment option along with office space, hotel space, restaurant, cafe and lounge space. Our serviced apartments are for guests here for one month or longer. Adding washer/dryer, refrigerators, cutlery, tableware and appliances, our serviced apartment guests can also avail themselves of 24-hour hotel guest services, free work and meeting space in our library, access to private "Salon" meeting space and excellent cuisine from our master Chef. In our newest Serviced Apartment suite, we kept the design in a darker hue and made the bedroom area perfect for a good night's rest. We know our guests are here to accomplish their goals and we hope the peaceful, modern and relaxing space we provide will support their success in Japan."
The hotel section of the building welcomes stays from one night and prices start at 130 USD for a studio-sized room. The monthly studio-sized serviced apartments begin at 216,000 yen/month and the brand new one- bedroom serviced suite (fully furnished and fully equipped) is 250 USD/night under contract for one month or more.
Featuring serviced apartments, flexible office space and its newest serviced apartment suite, the Hotel & Residence Roppongi continues to meet a variety of accommodation needs in Japan's ever-internationalizing metropolis, Tokyo.
