New Bajaj Avengers Finally Launched in India

The new Bajaj Avenger series was finally launched on both the offline and online space in a big way. With a 220cc variant added to the list too, there is an entry - level Avenger street 150

There have been bikes which have taken the market by storm, but none of them have been anything like the Bajaj Avenger launch. The Avenger has been much awaited for and rightly so too... an overhaul has been due.

The bike had a last change in 2010 and the new design and engine change has been much awaited. The new Bajaj Avenger series was finally launched on both the offline and online space in a big way. With a 220cc variant added to the list too, there is an entry – level Avenger street 150.

Unlike the previous editions, this time Bajaj has launched the bike in three different models. The street 220, the cruise 220 and the Avenger street 150. Both versions of the 220cc models are at Rs 84,000/- while the 150cc version is at Rs 75,000/- (both prices are ex-showroom Delhi). The prices surely make the model one of the most affordable cruisers and deliveries are already underway.

Taking a look at the specifications, the 220cc bikes are powered by a twin spark and oil cooled engine that forks out 18.5 BHP of power. Yes, the engine is the same as the Pulsar 220. The telescopic front shocks and the anti friction bush at the front are great upgrades. The rear suspension has had an upgrade too that makes it perfect for long distances. Keeping a cruiser feel, the bike does have a comfortable ride thanks to the suspension, but also has a great braking system. There is a 260mm disc brake with a 130mm drum brake at the back. Both the bikes are roughly about 155kgs on the road and one of the most striking features is the 17 inch front and the 15 inch rear wheel. The wheels look to dominate the road and with a wheelbase of 1490mm, it does the job well. Many feel the ground clearance of the bike is not good enough, but surprisingly it is about 169mm – quite good indeed.

The design of the bike and the graphics are a huge upgrade. It is almost a rebirth of a vehicle that has always been described as a beast. The high set handlebar along with a great riding posture makes it an instant hit. There has been a keen attention to detail on the seat cushioning and the back support for the pillion rider too.

The exhaust of the vehicle suits in with the overall look and there is a complete black edition that seems to be the best of the lot. The digital cluster that is present on the bike along with the all black look and matte finish does give it a pure rough and wicked look.

If anything, the bike has been balanced well for both city and highway rides. The mileage of the bike remains around 42kmpl as the 220cc engine and the 150cc is set to give about 60kmpl. With plenty of servicing advantages, Bajaj seems to have got a hot cake in their hands. Definitely a bike that deserves a close watch!
