Bajaj v Bike - Made With the Invincible Metal of INS Vikrant
India, February 16, 2016 (Newswire.com) - The INS Vikrant has been the flagship of the Indian Navy for many years in the past and is set to be India’s leading bike manufacturer Bajaj’s call to history too. Bajaj are believed to be using the steel from the scrapped ship to manufacture a bike called ‘V’ or Bajaj Valor. Just so you know, Valor signifies courage, boldness and heroism!
The news has been released via a teaser video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYGEXHIwIBc) that even though does not give details about the bike; does reflect that the new release is like a premium commuter motorbike. The image of the vehicle does seem to have a sturdy built and also resembles the look of a cafe racer.
Few noticeable features would be the alloy wheels and dual shock absorbers. It gives the look of a classic bike coupled with a short saddle and an INS Vikrant logo on the tank.
With such details, the bike could well fit in between the Bajaj Discover and the Pulsar. A market segment that could well define the future of Bajaj’s business! Bajaj currently has 19% of the market share and plans to ramp it up to 23% with new releases by the year end.
The teaser of the bike was released on January 26th (Republic day), and struck a chord with millions of patriotic Indians. Metal from India’s 1971 war hero - INS Vikrant is being used to create the Bajaj V, probably making it one of India’s most eager releases. The bike was launched on February 1st 2016 before the Delhi Auto Expo.
In case you didn’t know, the INS Vikrant was India’s first commissioned aircraft carrier. It was added to the naval services in 1961 even though it was purchased in 1957 by the Indian government. The ship was India’s strongest sea guard for 36 years before being decommissioned in 1997. The metal of the decommissioned ship was purchased on an auction many years ago and is now being torn apart, melted and then used to make the new Bajaj V.
It comes as no surprise that the teaser has brought plenty of buzz on social media with consumers eager to own a piece of Indian history. The teaser video from Bajaj has taken the viral section of the Internet by storm and has got bike enthusiasts asking for more. While speculation is rife that the engine has a 144.8cc engine (like Bajaj Discover) and delivers 14BHP of power, details would be announced only on February 1st. Prices and further details are much awaited for... watch this space for more!
