National Automobile Museum Presents Historical Thursday Talk on the 1890s Technological Revolutions: Autos & Electricity

Reno, Nevada, May 31, 2018 (Newswire.com) - The National Automobile Museum has announced its next topic for the Second Thursday Talks will feature a discussion on 1890s Technological Revolutions: Autos & Electricity.

It will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2018, 1:30 - 2 p.m., in the Museum's Theatre. Enjoy a 30-minute talk, Q&A, refreshments and a unique piece of history.

Cost: Free to Museum members. Included with paid admission. Otherwise, $5 per person to attend the talk.

Speaker: Presented by automotive historian William N. Cathey, Ph.D.

William N. Cathey recently retired as Vice Provost of the University of Nevada, Reno.  His career at UNR began in 1967.  Prior to serving as Vice Provost, Cathey held a succession of positions including Associate Vice President; Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs; Faculty Senate Chair; Physics Department Chair, and Professor of Physics.

Cathey’s teaching experience includes introductory through graduate-level physics, modern physics, mechanics, electricity and magnetism, solid state, thermodynamics, and electronics.  He has also team taught an interdisciplinary course on the history and social impact of the automobile and has participated in many National Automobile Museum History Symposiums. Cathey holds a B.S. in Engineering Physics, University of Tennessee, 1961; M.S. in Physics, University of Tennessee 1962; and Ph.D. in Physics, University of Tennessee, 1966.
