Mi Amor Gala and Safe Passage Unite to Stop Domestic Violence Through Empowerment Fashion Show Fundraiser

An empowering fundraiser for Safe Passage, a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization that helps women and their children escape the horror of domestic abuse.

Three years ago, Luisa Diaz, founder of Mi Amor Gala, joined forces with Safe Passage, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that works to repair the damage done from abuse. Since launching, Mi Amor Gala has produced several successful events and raised thousands of dollars for nonprofit organizations.

Mi Amor Gala is proud and excited to announce their Third Year Anniversary gala. Last year’s success was tremendous, and all involved hope this year’s will be even more successful for the women and children of Safe Passage.

20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States. During one year, this equates to more than 10 million women and men.

Guests will enjoy a welcome cocktail, a buffet of delicious food and live entertainment from national and international performers. The highlight of this charity event will be when the ladies of Safe Passage, survivors of domestic violence, walk in gowns donated by Jovani Couture in the Empowerment Fashion Show.

"Last year, the Empowerment Fashion Show was so impactful for the graduates of Safe Passage's domestic violence rehabilitation program. When the ladies confidently walked the runway in their gorgeous gowns they looked like true beauty queens," reminisces Luisa. "I felt so proud of them, especially when I saw in their eyes that they had new hope for the opportunities ahead of them. This year, the recurrence of the Empowerment Fashion Show is highly anticipated, and will be even more heartfelt."

Pat Harvey, CBS2 News Anchor agrees, and calls Safe Passage "the #1 charity in giving women and their children the tools to a new life. I have seen and heard the victim's victorious stories."

One of last year's models, and survivor of Safe Passage, Vanria Jones, reminisces on last year's fashion show: "Participating as a model in the Empowerment Fashion Show gave me the confidence I needed to feel like a complete woman again! Thank you, Luisa and Safe Passage, for creating this amazing opportunity through Mi Amor Gala."

The year will feature a book signing by Luisa as she makes her debut as an author. Her first book, "Sexy Is Timeless: Ten Timeless Sexy Assets That Lie Within You," is an inspiration to women. "I am so happy to coach the new ladies and help them believe how innately beautiful they are, which is one of the reasons why I wrote this. I'm so excited for my debut as an author with my first signing to take place at this upcoming Mi Amor Gala."

Many celebrities will be present showing support. Among them will be; Adrienne Maloof of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills; Beverly Hills power couple, Dustin Quick and Medi Em; Jim Hill, Newscaster from CBS2; International Singer, Maria Elena Infantino; Sage Stevens, Film Director/Writer of ‘Ms Cutler’ and many more.
