The top international businessman who is now domiciled in Dubai, Markus Giebel recently had a meeting with the United Arab Emirates’ Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research H.E. Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan. Many issues related to science and education were discussed by them at this meeting.

H.E. Al Nahyan was also present at the launch of interior360, the F&B furniture store which is a subsidiary of Soliton Holding, of which Giebel is a Managing Partner and Board Member. Soliton is based in Dubai and operates in the areas of energy efficiency, real estate, healthcare, distribution and private equity with offices in Dubai, Hong Kong and Germany.

The Minister, who had held his current portfolio since February 2006, is also Chancellor of two of the UAE's three government-sponsored institutions of higher learning: United Arab Emirates University, established in 1976, and the Higher Colleges of Technology, established in 1988. He is also President of Zayed University, set up in 1998, and also served as Chairman of several ministerial committees including the Ministerial Committee for Education and the National Committee for Workforce Planning.

Meanwhile, the German-born Markus Alexander Giebel is the CEO, Co-owner and Board Member of Eternity Medicine Institute, Dubai which owns and franchises clinics practising preventive and predictive healthcare - age management. It’s one of the world’s leading health screening and plastic surgery centres. Giebel is also the Chairman of Aesthetics and was the youngest Vice President of Corning Inc., the US-based Fortune 500 company which is one of the world’s leading innovators in materials science, and CEO of Deyaar Development PJSC, a leading, publicly traded, local and regional real estate developer and real estate services company based in Dubai and listed on the Dubai Financial Market.

Giebel has won many awards including the Middle East Emerging CEO Award and Middle East Leadership Award, both presented by Deyaar Development PJSC in 2010, Business Award 2003 from the German Ministry of Economic Affairs and Corning Inventor of the Year awards in 2002 and 2001 and Corning Marketing Excellence Award in 2000, all presented by Corning. He holds the patent rights for over 20 innovations, mostly related to fibre optics.
