Marc Roberts On Vitali Klitschko - Shannon Briggs Fight For October 16th In Germany

Vitali Klitschko will defend his WBC heavyweight title against Shannon Briggs of the United States in October.

The 39-year-old Ukrainian says Briggs has "great experience, has even fought significantly more professional fights than I have and is one of the hardest punchers" in the heavyweight division.

Klitschko is 40-2, while the 38-year-old Briggs is 51-5 with one draw.

As per ESPN's report: "I tried for a long time to get into the ring with one of the Klitschkos. Now it's time to write history," Briggs said. "Most of their opponents [expletive] in their pants before they enter the ring. But I will put a lot of pressure on Klitschko. Klitschko can look at his WBC belt for a couple of more weeks. After Oct. 16, it belongs to me."

Boente said plans for American television coverage have not been finalized, but he said he has been in touch with ESPN, which is covering Wladimir Klitschko's Sept. 11 defense against Samuel Peter in Germany.

Marc Roberts managed Briggs for sometime, and is currently managed by Greg Cohen. The report on Briggs: Briggs is a big, powerful man who comes to fight; Blessed with a good jab and a powerful punch, he ranks among the best heavyweight hitters; Shannon has scored 27 first round knockouts

He is willing and can take a good punch but like many large men, his greatest weakness is his lack of stamina and endurance; However, like many big hitters, he often flattens his man before completely tiring; During his career, Briggs won several versions of the Heavyweight Championship of the World
