Mango Season Started in Myanmar

Mango in Myanmar

Myanmar Tourism Marketing announced “mango season to have started” as the country is eagerly waiting for tourists to come and taste the best mangoes in the world. Hotels, restaurants, and local vendors are selling special desserts, juices, cocktails, even bread and other pastries all based on the tasteful Myanmar mango as the main ingredient.

Mango is one of the most popular, delicious and tastiest fruit in the world.  There are over 300 varieties of mango in the world and Myanmar has more than one hundred of those species with great varieties in taste, color, and shape.

The Sein Ta Lone Mango from Myanmar, also known as the Diamond Mango, is one of the many mango varieties available in Myanmar. Many have regarded the Sein Ta Lone Mango as the best mango in Myanmar, comparing it to the best mangoes in the world because of its delightful aroma, sweetness, and juiciness. Everything you love about mangoes is found in the Sein Ta Lone.

Mangoes are grown in the central Mandalay Region, Ayeyarwaddy, and the southern regions as well as Shan State in the east over a size of some 80,000 hectares (producing about 500,000 tons each season).

The whole Mango tree is useful in Myanmar. The leaf can be eaten as a vegetable that goes well with fish paste. The mango wood is very useful as well. It’s hard, colorful and comes in a variety of shades making it desirable for furniture. Don’t forget to try green mango salad as it is famous as a side dish for Burmese meal.

Myanmar is hoping to attract tourists by having a Green Season Promotion, from May to September, with special offers from hotels, restaurants, and airlines at popular destinations throughout the country.  There are many advantages to lure tourists to the country during the Green Season.

Mango season lasts until the end of August, so don’t miss out on your chance to come and taste the fresh Burmese mango. As Myanmar’s favorite fruit is coming to the season – it is the perfect reason to visit Myanmar during the Green & Mango Season!
