Local Company Promotes Energy Efficient Simonton Windows

launched a campaign to encourage more Houston homeowners to use energy efficient windows.

Houston remodeling company, All-Tex Home Improvement Services in cooperation with industry leader, Simonton Windows, launched a campaign to encourage more Houston homeowners to use energy efficient windows.

"With the recent heat wave, homeowners have to start thinking about lowering the carbon footprint of everyone." A spokesman from All-Tex Home Improvement said in an interview.

Benefits

Installation of energy efficient windows can lower cooling costs by up to 14%. Heat transfer is most prevalent among windows. By preventing the transfer of heat through windows, the air conditioning unit would no longer have to work as hard in keeping the interior temperature cooler.

Comfortable Home

"One of the main functions of energy efficient windows is to keep the heat away," a remodeling contractor said when asked about the effects of using energy efficient windows. "Because there's less heat coming in through your windows, you're home stays cool throughout the day." she adds.

A home stays equally comfortable during the cold season because the heat stays inside the home and the cold wind stays outside. "It's the same principle, it's just that this time, the heat stays in." the contractor adds.

Low Maintenance

Energy efficient windows are manufactured from high-grade vinyl - a material commonly found on high-performance siding. "Windows manufactured by Simonton are one of the toughest in the industry." a remodeler says. "Unlike wood, vinyl doesn't warp and buckle."

Locals are also convinced of the advantages of using this material. "Vinyl's also not as prone to dings and scratches because the color of the material goes all the way through." A Houston homeowner said.

Easy Installation

Vinyl's light weight makes for easy transport and installation. "It's easier to install a lighter material." a Houston home improvement remodeling contractor says. "Before vinyl, the only viable option is wood. However, it's difficult to work with a heavy material like wood, especially when it's hardwood like oak and pine."

Tax Credit

The Environment Protection Agency (EPA) has provided tax credits for homeowners who decide to use energy efficient windows. "Homeowners are more concerned about the tax credit that comes with these windows." a site manager says in an interview.

With support from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009, homeowners are now encouraged to use products that come with the Energy Star Seal.

Energy Star

Established in the early 90's, the Energy Star is a government supported organization aimed at providing consumers access to energy-efficient products. The Energy Star seal was first found in electronics, but it has eventually crossed over to construction materials such as windows, roofs, and insulation.

The NFRC

Energy efficient windows were originally rated by The National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC). Together with Energy Star, the NFRC provides energy efficiency ratings for doors, skylights, and windows. The NFRC rating seal shows information about how a specific product performs in terms of energy efficiency

"It's easier for contractors like us to calculate the optimal window configuration for a home thanks to the NFRC rating." a window specialist from All-Tex Home Improvement Services says
