Live Your Dreamz Ent keeps it real with JPK Groovehouse
Online, May 26, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Seeing what's new and what's good with D.Martin
He's a familiar face all over the D, and on JPKGROOVEHOUSE, and for rapper D.Martin it's all about keeping the momentum going in the right direction, while he continues to chase the dream. He never loses focus, or sight of what matters, and at the same time he wants others to remain hopeful that the D can and will bounce back. Yet, D.Martin is more than just a visionary of hope for the future of Detroit, he is his own man and his own artist. Thus, in this interview, where I caught up with him it was important to hear what he had to say on all levels.
"I'm still pushing behind my debut album Enter Da Game, which I recently found out that I sold a few digital downloads over in Europe," said Martin. He then continued on with more great news. "Fans will now be able to purchase their very own D.Martin's "Beat It Up"ringtone by texting 3156141 to 69937, and I'm also still putting together showcases for other local artist, so stay tuned for the Live Your Dreamz concert series to start very soon," said Martin. For an artist like D.Martin, not only is he working on his own art, but he wants to help others bring their skills to the table. Still, speaking of bringing it to the table, D.Martin certainly does that through his craft, but the question remains how? Furthermore, what makes him so likeable as an artist? "My uniqueness, my versatility, and my real life attitude when I create songs are what I bring to the table," said Martin who also feels that way too many artist like to rap about fairy tales instead of being themselves and keeping it real. He then continued on. "More people can relate to working a 9 to 5 then they can about selling bricks, and that's why you will never hear me rapping about something I don't know about," said Martin who prides himself on just being himself. "There's only one D.Martin and can't anyone copy me," said Martin.
Speaking of artists, copying, and the current scene, D.Martin also weighed in on his thoughts about the situations in the D, what it means to have good quality rap music, and his overall inspirations. "I have no new inspirations as of now other than Jesus Christ, but that's nothing new, he always has been an inspiration to me," said Martin who also greatly appreciates the fans who keep him going. "If they didn't buy my records then you wouldn't know who D.Martin is today," said Martin who thanked the fans for all the inspiration they've given throughout his career. Next up, we talked about the quality of rap music in general. "Music with a message is good quality rap music, but at the same time the beat has to be catchy and the hook does to, because I've heard songs with a great message, but the beat was whack, or the beat was good and the message was whack," said Martin. Lastly, we talked about the D, and its current state of affairs. "As far as losing faith in Detroit's music scene, honestly it can be a little discouraging at times but at the end of the day you got to figure out why you want to keep pursing music," said Martin who keeps pursuing his dreams because he keeps getting the positive feedback from fans, but he understands the discouraging feelings towards the D with everything that's been going on politically, and otherwise.
Still, for rapper D.Martin, the fans, the faith, and those that know his talent and ability are what fuel his consistent ability to chase the dream, and never give up. "Just hearing someone say they love what you do is a great motivational boost of its own," said Martin. Thus, you should remember to check out the latest and greatest with D.Martin whenever and wherever you can. Real rap, a real expression of self, and all the right aspects of an artist rolled into one; that's D.Martin.
