aT (Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation) and MAFRA (Korean Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs) hosted 2016 K-Food Fair in Dubai from November 23 to 26 to promote Korean food and food culture in UAE and other countries of the Middle East. Since the growth in exports to UAE is now rising, the fair grabbed the great attention of the consumers and buyers of UAE.
Under the motto "Younger, Healthier, Prettier, K-FOOD", the 2016 K-Food Fair in Dubai has been organized with B2B event (business consultations with buyers)m a B2C event (Korean food experience event for local consumers), a seminar with regard to Korean food in halal markets, and the Expert Forum for Halal Food between Korea and UAE.
The B2B event, seminar, and expert forum were held at Waldorf Astoria Hotel Dubai from November 23 to 24. Total 30 local food buyers and 20 Korean food exporters attended K-Food B2B event. The 1:1 business matching system and the business meetings set up by aT were organized at the event. Korean companies concentrated on promoting halal-certified products and presented their popular items like red ginseng and seaweed snack.
The K-Food B2C event took place from November 25 to 26 at The Beach, JBR (Jumeirah Beach Residence), which is known as one of the most crowded landmarks in Dubai. This event promoted healthy and tasty Korean food to consumers of Dubai. K-Food Companies exhibited and sold promising food products including fresh pear, processed red ginseng, convenience food, etc. Also, various K-Food from the most favorable Korean dishes such as fried chicken to Japchae (Korean noodles cooked with vegetables) and Bibimbap (rice, vegetables, and beef mixed with hot pepper paste) were prepared for the visitors to taste
Amusing programs such as Korean Pear peeling, speedy eating of spicy food contest, K-pop cover dance performances, and traditional Korean games experience program have made the local consumers enjoy Korean food and feel friendly toward it.
Global K-Food FAIR is a new concept of integrated fair, in which Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs supervise the fair and aT (Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp.) visit regions and/or countries with high demand in Korean agrifood and food culture. aT provides in-depth business consultation and promotion to local buyers and consumers. Integration of B2B (Export Consultation Meeting) and B2C (K-FOOD Customer Experience) allows Korean export companies to construct business meetings with the locals. By providing diverse cultural programs, and samples of Korean agrifood & beverages, K-FOOD will be further promoted to local buyers and consumers.
Throughout this year, 2016 K-Food Fair has been held in China, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, and Japan. The last 2016 K-Food Fair is scheduled to be held in Hong Kong for 3days from December 13th to 15th.
