KBE Building Corporation (KBE) is embarking on the 5th year of its very successful 50 Ways to Make a Difference philanthropy program - with nearly $1 million in donations and 5,000+ hours of employee volunteer time to date.
Online, January 29, 2013 (Newswire.com) - KBE Building Corporation (KBE) is embarking on the 5th year of its very successful 50 Ways to Make a Difference philanthropy program - with nearly $1 million in donations and 5,000+ hours of employee volunteer time to date.
Launched in 2009 to celebrate KBE's 50th year in business, 50 Ways to Make a Difference formalizes the construction company's 50+ year legacy of charitable giving, and focuses on providing support for children, seniors, and military personnel. The annual program is funded by significant corporate donations, personal donations from the firm's three owners, and donations and volunteer time contributed by KBE's 120+ employees. KBE has also donated its professional services on a number of not-for-profit and community projects.
Since 2009, the firm and its employees have focused primarily on programs that support children and senior citizens, as well as municipal and county programs in CT and MD. In 2013, the 50 Ways program will focus on military personnel, including veterans, deployed soldiers, and their families.
Staples of the 50 Ways initiative include:
Charitable Donations - Since 2009, KBE has donated $960,000 in corporate donations and personal donations from the firm's three owners and the firm's employees, along with donated services.
Friday Jeans' Donations - KBE Associates donate, on average, $300 each month for the "privilege" of wearing jeans on Fridays, with KBE's ownership matching that donation. That money is then given to organizations whose mission matches the program focus each year. In 2012, KBE and its employees donated $7,000+ for charity.
Volunteer Hours - Each year, KBE challenges its employees to meet its Volunteer Hours goal, asking employees to give of their time to community organizations that are important to them, such as religious groups, children's sports teams, food banks, literacy programs, "walks" for causes, etc. A number of KBE-sponsored "volunteer" programs are also offered. Since starting the Volunteer Hours program in 2010, KBE associates have donated more than 5,345 hours. The 2013 goal is 2500 hours.
The Gift of Gobble- Thanksgiving's On Us! - This annual Thanksgiving program provides meals to 200+ families in need in Connecticut and Maryland.
