KBE Building Corp. Sponsors CT Brain Tumor Alliance's First 5K Walk
Farmington, CT, September 29, 2014 (Newswire.com) - With its Premier Sponsorship of the Connecticut Brain Tumor Alliance’s first annual 5K walk, “Path of Hope,” KBE Building Corp. is helping to bring hope and support to those affected by brain tumors and the medical professionals who care for them.
The walk is scheduled for Oct. 5 at Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison, Conn. All proceeds will benefit the Connecticut Brain Tumor Alliance, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
The message of the walk is that 'no one has to take the journey alone.' We wanted to give those in our community affected by cancer - including survivors, family members, and friends - our full support by sponsoring the walk as part of our corporate philanthropic program, 50 Ways to Make a Difference.

“The message of the walk is that ‘no one has to take the journey alone,’” said KBE principal owner and CEO Mike Kolakowski. “We wanted to give those in our community affected by cancer – including survivors, family members, and friends – our full support by sponsoring the walk as part of our corporate philanthropic program, 50 Ways to Make a Difference.”
Established in 2009 to celebrate the firm’s new ownership, name change, and 50 years in business, 50 Ways to Make a Difference has helped KBE associates donate more than $1.2 million and 5,000 volunteer hours to charitable causes benefiting children, seniors, and military veterans in Connecticut and Maryland.
The “Path of Hope” 5K won’t be the first time KBE’s employees and their families have used their legs for a good cause. The firm participates in the annual Camp Challenge Ride & Bandit 5K to benefit Paul Newman’s Hole in the Wall Gang Camp for children with life-threatening illnesses.
KBE has also been helping caregivers, with a spate of medical construction projects recently completed throughout the Northeast. The newly opened Christina M. Nappi Surgical Tower at the St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Care Center in Syracuse, N.Y. provides many innovative features for doctors and nurses, including workstations on wheels (WOWs) and a building design that reduces their daily footsteps throughout the hospital by nearly 50%.
“Whether we’re building or donating, KBE strives to increase the quality of life for everyone in the community,” said Kolakowski. “We’re excited to add the Connecticut Brain Tumor Alliance’s historic walk to our philanthropic efforts this year.”
KBE’s other 2014 philanthropic efforts have included $17,000 in scholarships to Connecticut’s technical high school students; a $50,000 donation to the Tower One/Tower East senior living facility in New Haven; and the founding sponsorship of a Connecticut Public Broadcasting Corporation (CPBN) documentary about the state’s manufacturing industry; Made in Connecticut will premiere on Oct. 23 on CPTV.
