KBE Building Corp. Donates 60 Backpacks of School Supplies to Children in Need

KBE's backpack donation program provides school supplies for 60 students at the Cardinal Shehan Center in Bridgeport, Connecticut

This summer, KBE Building Corporation donated 60 backpacks filled with notebooks, pencils, and other school supplies to children at the Cardinal Shehan Center in Bridgeport.

After last year’s successful backpack donation program, completed in conjunction with other companies in the region, KBE decided to do something similar this year, but on its own. KBE purchased the backpacks and asked employees to donate school supplies to fill them. Employees jumped at the opportunity to give to the school for the second consecutive year.

The donation is part of KBE’s corporate philanthropic program 50 Ways to Make a Difference, which focuses on assisting the community through charity and volunteer service. The program began as a way for KBE to celebrate its 50th year in business serving the commercial construction needs of Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic states by giving back to communities in Connecticut and Maryland, where KBE has regional offices.

The commercial construction management company focuses on supporting children, seniors, and military veterans in its initiatives to give back. Since the program’s inception in 2009, KBE has donated more than $1.2 million and 5,000 volunteer hours to more than 25 organizations, including Friendly Hands Food Bank in Torrington, Connecticut and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
