It's Earth Day on April 22 - Take Part in the Global Pledge to Plant Something!

The New Jersey Nursery and Landscape Association is promoting Earth Day via its Plant Something campaign.

Pledge to plant something on Earth Day.  That’s the message the New Jersey Nursery and Landscape Association (NJNLA) is supporting on April 22 as part of the global Earth Day Celebration via its Plant Something™ website (www.plantsomethingnj.org).

“PLEDGE TO PLANT – EARTH DAY, APRIL 22, 2015 is slated to be a major grass-roots call to action encouraging people to plant something as a ‘give back’ to Planet Earth,” said Dominick Mondi, executive director, NJNLA.

"We're encouraging everyone to celebrate Earth Day by planting something. Whether you have a yard or just an indoor space, plants are critical to our existence."

It’s an old Native American tradition that when you take something from the Earth, you must put something back. This year, the focus of Earth Day 2015 will be a global give back to Earth with a goal to plant one billion seeds/trees.

“We’re encouraging everyone to celebrate Earth Day by planting something,” said Mondi.  “Whether you have a yard or just an indoor space, plants are critical to our existence.”

Plants provide numerous benefits including higher property values, increased health and well being, and improved environmental quality -- not to mention the fun and satisfaction that comes from planting something and watching it grow. Many consumers, especially new homeowners, may not be aware of these benefits, but the NJNLA is hoping to change that.

The Plant Something website is a resource to help people who might not be your typical gardeners and provides numerous consumer resources including a NJ Retail Nurseries, Professional Landscaper and Garden Centers Guide.

The New Jersey Nursery and Landscape Association is a trade association representing the nursery, greenhouse, landscape, and retail garden center industries in the Garden State.  The NJNLA’s goal is to advance the commercial horticulture industry through networking, education, promotion and advocacy.
