Invents Unveils "Quick Release Ratchet", Easy To Handle Tie-Down Cargo Straps For Safety & Efficiency

The Quick Release Ratchet is a welcomed improvement for every worker who straps down and transports cargo

Typically, the spring-loaded release-bar on a ratcheting cargo strap remains locked in place, and inoperable, unless and until the ratchet-handle is disengaged from the ratchet (by a spring-loaded release-bar in the handle), and then lifted to a fully extended position along the strap. When the handle is lifted to full extension, the rotation of the two lower ends of the handle, which are mounted to either end of the ratchet's spindle or axle, serves to unlock the main release-bar immediately beneath the ratchet – and when thus unlocked, the main release-bar may be fully disengaged from the ratchet's teeth to permit loosening of the cargo strap.

The Quick Release Ratchet is a simple improvement in this tool that is widely used in both the industrial and consumer sectors. The Quick Release Ratchet makes it easier to handle and operate tie-down cargo straps, with no loss of the strap's efficiency or safety.

"Where other tie-down ratchets can only be released with the ratchet-handle in a specific position - a position that can be awkward and hard to achieve - the Quick Release Ratchet permits an instant, push-button release in any position: resulting in a superior, more easily operated tie-down system."

Harry Graun, Inventor

The Patent Pending Quick Release Ratchet was invented by Harry Graun of Menifee, CA, who said, “The Quick Release Ratchet is an improved, push-button release mechanism to be incorporated into ratchet-tightening cargo tie-down straps. The main release-bar – spring-loaded, with two side tabs that engage and lock into the teeth of the ratchet from below, and a finger notch in the center – will not require that the ratchet handle achieve full extension prior to release. Instead, one simply depresses the upper, ratchet-handle release to take tension out of the strap, and then – regardless of the ratchet handle's position – depress the main release-bar to free the ratchet-teeth from below. The strap may then be easily removed, repositioned, or adjusted as needed.”
