Hip Hop's First Female Emcee: Focuses On Foster Care

Every child deserves to grow, learn, and dream in a supportive and loving environment.

May is foster care month! This is our time to raise awareness about the magnitude of issues and the urgent needs for the children, older youth, and their families currently in foster care. It also provides an opportunity for acknowledging the thousands of dedicated foster families and other caring individuals and organizations who are already supporting these young people.

To develop a positive framework for maintaining visibility and interest in the year-round efforts of the national foster care month; Hip Hop's first female Emcee -- Sha-Rock, has partnered with organizations and other foster care agencies. As a philanthropist she has a generous nature and a concern for human welfare and supports this cause and others effortlessly.

In early 2014, she became the ambassador of Humphrey House, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to educate and inspire youth at risk; and a partner with Learning Curve Careers to create the luminary icon scholarship fund, established for foster youth and women who were incarcerated and/or transitioning out prison seeking healthcare and the training necessary to secure adequate employment.

Sha-Rock recently endorsed Foster Focus Magazine (the nation's ONLY monthly magazine) devoted to the foster care industry. Owned and edited by Chris Chmielewski, a former foster youth. As she continues to make history, Sha-Rock is the first female of hip hop to brace the cover of the first, and only magazine of its kind. Look for the icon in the July edition of Foster Focus Magazine.
