Helping Hands Join Together on Veterans Day to Help a Marine Corps Veteran and Five Habitat for Humanity of Orange County Families
Anaheim, ca, October 27, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Habitat for Humanity of Orange County will celebrate Veterans Day by partnering with the Los Angeles District US Army Corps of Engineers and local Home Depot Associates on two projects in Orange County during the weekend and day of Veterans Day.
On Friday, November 7, the helping hands of the Los Angeles District US Army Corps of Engineers will gather at the Habitat OC development in Cypress to help build five affordable homes for hardworking, limited-income families. The team of 20 volunteers will begin work on the last five homes of a 15-home development located at 6122 Lincoln Avenue in Cypress from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
On Veterans Day, November 11, Habitat for Humanity of Orange County will partner with The Home Depot Foundation to do a Veterans Build home repair for a Marine Corps veteran in Anaheim. Christopher works with the Veterans Administration in the South Orange County Veterans Center as a dedicated mental healthcare professional. With the recent purchase of their home, Christopher and his wife have exhausted the resources necessary to update their 67 year old house to make it a home for their young children. The team of volunteers will work on landscaping, fence repair, and irrigation installation from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Veterans Build repair program combines major financial and volunteer support from The Home Depot Foundation with Habitat for Humanity of Orange County’s homebuilding expertise to repair the homes of low-income veterans. Through the Veterans Build repair program and the partnership with The Home Depot Foundation, Habitat for Humanity of Orange County has been able to help over 30 veteran homeowners since 2012 in Orange County who have served in WWII, the Korean War, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan.
