Hastings & Hastings Speaks on Driving While Under the Influence

According to accident statistics, December 23, and December 24 are two of the most dangerous days on the calendar in terms of accident fatalities. Hastings & Hastings notes that a wide variety of factors contribute to this statistical fact. It is likely that one of those factors is an increase in the percentage of drivers who get behind the wheel while intoxicated.

The National Highway and Traffic Safety Association reports that DUI arrests are at their highest between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Weekend, with a spike appearing around Christmas. Hastings & Hastings speaks out against driving while under the influence.

Further commenting, Hastings & Hastings believes that there is nothing wrong with responsible adults enjoying an alcoholic beverage, as long as they never get behind the wheel of a car after doing so.

"When in doubt, arrange transportation. Even consider spending the night on a friends couch! It is better to be careful. Your life, and the life of every other individual out on the road is simply too valuable. If you do get behind the wheel of a car while intoxicated, you will get caught. We just want everyone to stay safe out there,"

Dave Hastings, Founder

Hastings & Hastings advises that planning ahead is the best way to avoid DUI offenses. Individuals would be best served planning their transportation home before the night begins. Nominating a designated driver is always an excellent option. A responsible, sober individual can safely get everyone home with little worry. If nominating a designated driver is not an option, transportation services such as taxis, Ubers, or Lyfts are good alternatives. Hastings & Hastings comments that these transportation services are convenient and can often be utilized at relatively low cost.

Driver should be aware that the legal limit in terms of driving while under the influence is .08% BAC. Individuals may be intoxicated even before they reach this point. Hastings & Hastings encourages Phoenicians to always err on the side on cautions. If even the slightest hint of doubt enters the mind, they should decline to drive. Consider consequences in terms of family, friends, and the future. The danger drivers place themselves and others in is simply too high.

“When in doubt, arrange transportation. Even consider spending the night on a friends couch! It is better to be careful. Your life, and the life of every other individual out on the road is simply too valuable. If you do get behind the wheel of a car while intoxicated, you will get caught. We just want everyone to stay safe out there,” said David Hastings, the founder of Hastings & Hastings.
