Guardsquare Now Provides Support for ProGuard
LEUVEN, Belgium, September 27, 2018 (Newswire.com) - Guardsquare, the global reference in mobile application protection, announced today that it now offers support for setting up and using ProGuard in Android projects. ProGuard is a popular, open source optimizer and obfuscator for Java bytecode. The provided support packages will help developers to work more efficiently and get better results.
ProGuard is one of the most popular tools in Java and Android development. It was first released in 2002 and has since become the go-to tool for shrinking and optimizing Java bytecode. ProGuard makes Java and Android applications up to 90% smaller and up to 20% faster. In addition, it provides basic protection against reverse engineering as it enables developers to obfuscate the names of classes, fields and methods. ProGuard is included in Google’s Android SDK and is used by developers in homegrown apps and large-scale enterprise projects.
ProGuard has played a key role in the development of Guardsquare. We now want to give its users access to the expertise we have accumulated over the years. It will help them to work faster and get more out of ProGuard.
