Color guard installs protective carpet tiles for competition
AMERICAN FORK, Utah, June 7, 2019 (Newswire.com) - One of the oldest high schools in Utah, American Fork High School was established in 1902 and is the “home of the Caveman.” AFHS has built a reputation for producing outstanding cross country runners and award-winning marching bands.
In late 2014, the school celebrated the completion of a new gymnasium, and five years later took steps to protect the floor of that gymnasium through the use of Greatmats gym floor covering carpet tiles.
“Our color guard was looking for a way that we can protect the floor and be able to hold a Utah Color Guard competition in this new space without damaging the floor,” said color guard coach Jessica Slabaugh.
That’s when she started checking into protective floor covers and found Greatmats gym floor covering carpet tiles in early 2019 after a recommendation from the Imbue Winterguard of Modesto California.
Impressed by the ease of installation and storage of the protective carpet tiles, Slabaugh said, “This floor is marvelous. It is simple to pull out and put away and makes it so using our new space is doable without damage.”
With that being said, the school now also plans to use the gym floor cover tiles for other high school events as well.
