Gen Y Hub's Panel Discussions is a new series on Gen Y Hub that brings young experts together to discuss various current issues of concern and interest. In an insightful first episode, Gen Y Hub host Britt Hysen led an obliging chat on career strategies among Generation Y in the new age of social media. With the unemployment rate at 9.8% for 25-29 year olds, much of Generation Y is feeling the woes of job-searching in a saturated job market. To shed light on potentially successful job-hunting tactics for the new generation, Britt Hysen, known as The Voice of Gen Y by her peers, spoke with Elana Lyn Gross, Joey V. Price and Scott Keenan, three professional Millennials that are savvy in the current trends of how the new age of social media plays into the job market.

Gen Y Hub's Panel Discussion series launches a stimulating and relevant discourse, offering the new generation of adults a look at various methods for approaching the seemingly-daunting job market. As social media becomes a primary tool for communication in society, Hysen asked her panel to elaborate on how social media plays a role in the job search and how Generation Y can creatively utilize social media to snag the attention of potential employers.

Scott Keenan, author of the blog series, "Dude, Where's My Job?" responded to Hysen's query in saying, "Identify the jobs or companies you want to work for. Start pursuing them - start following them on all social networks, and start engaging with the company. [By doing this], you are letting them get to know you, and you are also getting to know them."

Discussing the matter further, CEO of Jumpstart-HR.com, Joey V. Price, offered his piece: "I am definitely a fan of social networking, and using it to build relationships and find a job. Social media is going to show [potential employers] how you communicate effectively."

The current wave of social networking allows Generation Y the opportunity to connect with numerous people that they would otherwise be unable to reach and communicate with. "A lot of opportunities stem from [social networking sites]," stated Elana Lyn Gross, author of the blog ThePreppyPostGrad. "I definitely use Twitter to connect with different people, and I think it is a way to have different people see your portfolio. It think it is a really great way to make connections."

With an intriguing topic and informative discussion from a clearly knowledgeable panel, this first episode of Gen Y Hub Panel Discussions establishes a provoking and insightful series that will allow a platform for the educated, informed and conscious voices of Generation Y. "I am so proud to debut Gen Y Hub Panel Discussions," said Britt Hysen. "I feel this series truly represents the intellect of Gen Y. For the first time, an outlet is provided to help establish an expertise in a particular field and visually extend credibility to the resume. Gen Y Hub members are now able to share their voice on subjects they are passionate about with the world while gaining valuable insight from their peers."

Gen Y Hub Panel Discussions is another worthy, illuminating offering from Gen Y Hub, the online network that allows members of the Generation Y community to carve a unique space through which to express their voice. For those Millennials that have not yet joined Gen Y Hub, Hysen exclaimed, "Part of the benefit of joining The Hub is free promotion, and what better way to showcase yourself than on a Gen Y Hub Panel Discussion."
