Gamma Real Estate and Meltzer Properties Buy Historic 18-Story Hurt Building in Atlanta; Gamma President Jonathan Kalikow Bullish on Neighborhood and Building
New York, NY, November 4, 2016 (Newswire.com) - Manhattan-based Gamma Real Estate and Atlanta-based Meltzer Properties have purchased the 18-floor, 436,337-s.f. historic Hurt Office Building in downtown Atlanta.
“The Hurt Building is an excellent acquisition for us,” says Gamma president Jonathan Kalikow. “Downtown Atlanta is the city’s historic core and the political center of the state. It is undergoing a full revitalization and transformation.”
The sales price was $33.6 million; the seller was Boxer Properties.
The Hurt Building has been a member of the National Registry of Historic Places since 1977, and has been LEED-EB Platinum Certified since 2014. It was erected in 1913 and substantially renovated in 1985 and 2013.
Situated in a prime location atop 1.38 acres off Woodruff Park, the locus of downtown’s commercial center, The Hurt Building sits on the southeast corner of Edgewood and Peachtree Center Avenues, adjacent to the new Atlanta streetcar route and within walking distance of three MARTA rail stations, the Georgia State Capitol and the government district, along with the rapidly gentrifying entertainment district at The Five Points and Grady Memorial Hospital.
