From Plainfield to Unlimited Potential for David Bossy

Target-by-David Bossy

In 2001, David Bossy and Mid-America Partners became involved in a deal in Plainfield, Illinois. This came about because Bossy was still representing Target as a broker, but some serious entitlement issues almost caused a failure of the project before it even got off the ground. It looked like goals would not be met, and the project may suffer the fate that so many real estate projects fall victim to — simply running out of funding and agreement so that the project cannot move forward. But that was not acceptable to Bossy, who knew that the project had potential and value if he could simply get everyone on the same page again and secure the funding to keep the Plainfield project afloat.

Through a lot of begging and borrowing, the project continued to slowly advance. There were enough people who believed in it, and who wanted to see it through. David Bossy was, of course, one of them. Fortunately, Bossy was able to get the deal through and close on the 30 acres needed for the development just in time to keep the project from being scrapped. That made all the difference, and the people in the area who wanted to see Target and other stores come into the area would be able to get their wish.

Excellence, service, and commitment allowed the maximization of every square foot of space in front of Target, along with the space in front of the Walmart located across the street. The four lots at Target's property and the six lots at Walmart's property were prime real estate space, and when they were filled with good stores the revenue in the area began to rise. Dedication matters, and Bossy was clear on his dedication and focus when it came to the project.

That same service, commitment, and excellence are what has brought Bossy further than the vast majority of his colleagues. While they have been focused on moving their projects forward, Bossy has been focused on completing his projects and moving on to new ones. From Plainfield he moved on to Homewood and beyond, understanding the seriousness and the unlimited potential of development. Without proper growth there was nothing of value in the commercial real estate market anymore, and that growth could be encouraged by leveraging companies and land the right way. The more Bossy studied the market, the more he knew what to do.

What started out as a simple development in Plainfield, with a Target store and four outlets, became that plus six outlets across the street. That, in turn, became developments in other areas of Illinois, and a more in-demand feeling for Bossy and his Mid-America Partners company. Without that humble beginning in Plainfield and the lessons that came along with it, Bossy may never have seen the value in the commitment, service, and excellence that brought that project to completion. Those skills and the dedication that comes with them have now propelled him into the spotlight and showcased his ability to get the job done.
