Fonon Announces New Laser Cutting System for Fast-Growth Industrial Markets
SBM Series Systems Bring Industrial-quality Laser Processing to SMBs and Small Enterprises
Lake Mary, Florida, March 7, 2016 (Newswire.com) - Fonon Corporation (OTC: FNON) today unveiled a new line of laser cutting, marking, and engraving systems as simple to use as a consumer-grade laser printer. Ideal for small and medium-sized businesses as well as growing enterprises, the SBM-1,-2, and -3 are designed for extreme flexibility, multipurpose use, and high-quality output.
Sign makers, custom engravers, UID/barcode markers, and companies that create high definition marks or high-accuracy cuts will benefit from using the SBM series. The new systems will cut, mark, or engrave large sheets of several different types of material, including plastic, glass, wood, fabrics, acrylic, paper, laminates, foam, leather, ceramics, and plexiglas. The SBM series will work equally well marking or engraving curved surfaces, cones, uneven surfaces and flat sheets.
Access to the most advanced laser cutting technologies should not be limited only to industrial giants. SBM laser cutting systems are simple to use and designed towards a price point that is within the reach of most professionals. The SBM series will open the door for more companies to avail of laser cutting technology.

Simple to use when connected to a Windows-based PC, an SBM system is controlled by the computer through a common printer driver. An SBM system will work with any Windows-based graphics software, including the Adobe suite, CorelDRAW, or AutoCAD. It attaches to the computer via a common USB cable.
The SBM series is effective for precise, high-production operation, capable of marking at up to 1500 mm (60”) per second, depending upon the material, and creating ultra high-resolution images of up to 4000 dpi. An optional snap-on rotary attachment is available for engraving cylindrical objects such as cups, bottles, thermal sleeves, glasses, and other objects up to ten inches in diameter. The system automatically detects and compensates for diameter and curve, making it the fastest, most versatile rotary engraving attachment on the market.
Objects of any length can be cut, marked, or engraved by opening two or more of the hinged, drop-down doors on all four sides of the unit.
As with other Fonon systems delivered under the Laser Photonics brand, an SBM unit is a true plug-and-play system, requires no consumables, and is maintenance-free. Available in three sizes at launch, an SBM system comes equipped with a user’s choice of a CO2 or a fiber laser, an optional rotary unit, and an optional autofocus sensor which automatically adjusts the focal height of the laser when working with materials of varying thickness.
This product release comes on the heels of the launch of Fonon’s new Titan FX, a series of large-format laser cutting systems also designed by Fonon to democratize the field of laser material processing.
“Access to the most advanced laser cutting technologies should not be limited only to industrial giants,” said Dmitriy Nikitin, CTO and interim CEO of Fonon Corporation. “SBM laser cutting systems are simple to use and designed towards a price point that is within the reach of most professionals. The SBM series will open the door for more companies to avail of laser cutting technology.”
The company has already shipped multiple SBM-3 systems, and other SBM units are currently in production. Contact Fonon for more details.
