Florida Panthers Announce 'Green' Initiatives for March
Month-Long initiative culminates in Panther Conservation Night on March 24
SUNRISE, FL, March 5, 2018 (Newswire.com) - The Florida Panthers announced their 'Green' initiatives for the month of March. Panther Conservation Night, St. Patrick's Day giveaways and recycling highlight the month-long focus on going green. March's schedule features more home games at BB&T Center than any other month in the 2017-18 regular season.
Throughout this month, the Florida Panthers will encourage proper recycling in-venue with PSAs, digital ticketing and education surrounding the Florida panther.
Fans can already access every hockey game, concert and event at BB&T Center using their mobile and digital devices. Detailed instructions on how to do so can be found at FloridaPanthers.com/digitalticketing.
On March 17th, the Panthers will host the Edmonton Oilers for a 2 p.m. matinee game. The first 10,000 fans in attendance will receive an exclusive green St. Patrick's Day Panthers t-shirt. The team will also wear green warm-up jerseys, which will be auctioned off to benefit the Florida Panthers Foundation. Fans can enter to win a team-signed jersey HERE.
On March 24, the club will host its Third-Annual Panther Conservation Night when the Florida Panthers host the Arizona Coyotes at 7 p.m. Featuring educational tables with information from local conservation experts and organizations as well as in-game facts and fundraising opportunities, this night aims to connect the Panthers fan base with the team's namesake animal.
Throughout the month of March, the Panthers will donate $50,000 to conservation organizations through auctions and the Community Champions Grant Program. More information on the grant program, which allocates $5 million over five years locally presented by Moss Construction, can be found at FloridaPanthers.com/CommunityChampions.
A portion of the proceeds of tickets sold to the March 24 game through this LINK will also benefit conservation organizations.
"One of the Four Pillars of our Florida Panthers Foundation is conservation of our namesake, the Florida panther," said Executive Director of the Florida Panthers Foundation Lauren Simone. "Our Third-Annual Panther Conservation night aims to educate our community about this beautiful creature and what steps we can take to see its population thrive."
The Florida Panthers will partner with the City of Fort Lauderdale to execute a staff-wide beach clean up in support of NHL green month and encourage conservation and recycling habits in the workplace and at home.

About NHL Green:
The ability to skate and play the game outdoors is a critical component of the NHL's history and culture. Major environmental challenges, such as climate change and freshwater scarcity, affect future opportunities for hockey players of all ages to take the game outside. This is why the NHL is committed to improving hockey's environmental impact - and to helping catalyze a larger movement toward a healthier planet. This month, all 31 NHL Clubs will lead a variety of sustainability initiatives in their local markets, including hosting a "Green Night" home game dedicated to environmental awareness. All NHL Clubs are members of the Green Sports Alliance, a nonprofit organization committed to promoting healthy, sustainable communities through the power of sports.
