Fiber Allows Us to Be Sweet Again
Albertsons Markets is stocking Sugar 2.0 to help health conscious individuals effortlessly cut down on sugar with the help of fiber.
Los Angeles, CA, March 1, 2017 (Newswire.com) - In line with Intermountain Healthcare’s decision to stop selling sugary snacks and treats, published on 29 Jan, Foods 2.0, LLC. has announced its expansion to Albertsons’ Intermountain region to also help people reduce their sugar consumption.
It is important to have fiber while consuming sugar, so the body can break down the sugar more easily.
"By replacing half the sugar with sweet soluble fiber, it created a win-win: the taste and experience is just as satisfying but adding the fiber makes it healthier."
Trong Nguyen, CEO and Founder
A study in the New England Journal of Medicine showed that people with diabetes who ate 50 grams of fiber a day — particularly soluble fiber — were able to control their blood glucose better than those who ate far less.
Wherever sugar occurs naturally - as in fruits, vegetables, beans, grains, and nuts - it is usually accompanied by fiber, which not only helps the body absorb it better but also makes us feel full, making it harder to ‘over-consume’ sugar. Eaten in this way, sugar is also released into the bloodstream more slowly, thanks to the fiber.
Adding refined sugar to foods and drinks takes that natural limit away, which has led to a plethora of diet-related diseases. In the absence of fiber, ‘free’ sugar is rapidly – and in ever-increasing amounts – released into the bloodstream. Since the body cannot absorb such high quantities of sugar all at once, the excess sugar is turned into body fat.
So we could argue that nature intended us to have sugar with fiber, which is what Trong Nguyen, CEO and creator of Sugar 2.0, realized when he was looking for a way to reduce his children’s sugar intake. Sugar 2.0 replaces half the sugar content with naturally sweet soluble fiber. The fiber slows the absorption of sugar, while reducing the overall sugar intake.
“Fiber, especially soluble fiber, has many benefits. This includes reduced cholesterol levels, slowed absorption of carbohydrates and increased satiety. Plus there are many studies showing that soluble fiber can contribute to weight loss”, explains the website authoritynutrition.com.
“I was trying to find a natural way to reduce my kids’ sugar intake,” Trong Nguyen, CEO and creator of Sugar 2.0 recalls his motivation for developing the product. “By replacing half the sugar with sweet soluble fiber, it created a win-win: the taste and experience is just as satisfying but adding the fiber makes it healthier.”
Beginning in March 2017, 85 Albertsons stores in the Intermountain region will be stocking Sugar 2.0. The region includes North Dakota, most of Idaho, northern Utah, northeastern Nevada, western Wyoming, and the Grand Junction, Colorado area.
